Overall exhibition budget £120k

In October 2016, Simon Leach Design were appointed Interpretation & Exhibition Designers for the Toynbee Hall Redevelopment Project. Our role is to build upon the initial work undertaken as part of the Development Phase (The Interpretation Plan) and develop a final design with a coordinated delivery methodology.

The Toynbee Hall redevelopment project has four core aims:

To conserve the architectural heritage by restoring Toynbee Hall, bringing back into use key areas of the building which have fallen into disrepair. To interpret Toynbee Hall as a building, place and institution, utilising the archival collection and other heritage material to provide a strong and integral heritage narrative across the building and site accessible to diverse audiences To create a suitable archive store and improve cataloguing, access and digitised materials alongside opportunities for contemporary collecting of new stories and histories. To provide public access to Toynbee Hall’s heritage through creating a programme of heritage activities and increased use of the building.
