19 Princelet Street

We’re proud to be working with The Spitalfields Trust on plans to open 19 Princelet Street to the public - one of Spitalfields’ most atmospheric and resonant buildings. Following our appointment through a competitive tender, we’ve been helping the Trust to define how this fragile Huguenot house can welcome visitors while preserving the patina and spirit that make it so special.

Our work has focused on developing a sustainable model for public access and interpretation - balancing conservation, community use, and financial resilience. Drawing on the Trust’s founding vision, the project will explore universal themes of migration, diversity, and belonging, letting the building itself “speak” through its layered fabric and memories.

Ideas emerging include carefully managed guided toursdigital storytelling, and new forms of non-intrusive interpretation, alongside audience research and community collaboration to inform long-term planning. As the project evolves, Princelet Street will once again become a place of reflection, commemoration and learning — where the stories of London’s migrant communities continue to inspire new conversations today.
